Over 220 competitors took part at the Wallaby Hill One Day Event recently, held at the lovely property, Wallaby Hill Farm in Robertson, NSW.
The property is becoming fast known in the Australian eventing world as a great venue, boasting a cross country course designed by international course designer Ewan Kellett, a large turfed and irrigated outdoor show jumping arena, indoor and outdoor arenas plus all of the facilities required to keep competitors and their horses happy.
The new 2* course had just been finished in time for the event and Alex Townsend, competitor in this class and owner of Wallaby Hill farm, was very happy with the way it rode. “We always want our events to be friendly and fun for all levels of horse and rider” says Alex “But it’s really nice to step up the level of competition offered and create a serious course”
The new course incorporated some very attractive and unique jumps, including one featuring man’s best friend designed by local artist, Anwen Keeling, who is well known for her horse portraits. Despite the fact that it has been wet, wet, wet in many areas of NSW for several weeks, the gods smiled on Wallaby Hill Farm. In the week leading up to the event, they only experienced patchy rain which ended on the Friday evening of the event and then stayed clear throughout the weekend.
In the main classes, New Zealand’s Alice Montgomery took out the honours in the Robertson Country Store CNC 2* while Tim Boland took first and second place in the Horsewerks CNC 1* riding Umunga and Untouchable as well as being runner-up in the Pre-Novice on Lord Limmerick.
