Two days of dressage at a sunny Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair has left riders from various countries topping the leader board heading into Saturday’s cross country action
Italy’s Vittoria Panizzon on the 14 year old Chequers Play The Game lead the The Irish Field CCI3* with a score of 34.5, a personal best for the pair, ahead of two visiting USA riders Kim Severson and Bruce Davidson while France’s Luc Chateau on Propiano de l’Ebat leads the CICO3* with a score of 36 and Ireland’s Sarah Ennis hot on his heels in second place on her horse Horseware Stellor Rebound on 36.5.

In third place is New Zealand’s Time Price on Ascona M, one of the horses he has taken over from wife Jonelle during her pregnancy, and Tim also leads the CCI2* riding Kilcooley Cruising with a score of 38.3 going into the cross country tomorrow
The Connollys Red Mills CCI2* U25 is dominated by up and coming stars of British eventing with nine the top ten being young British riders, topped by Millie Dumas riding Cameya on a score of 36.5 with New Zealand’s James Avery breaking the British hold in fourth place on Zazu, the recent winner of the CIC2* at Rockingham International
From up and coming rider to up and coming horses and the Cooley Farm CCIYH1*for 6 and 7 year old horses is still being led by Oliver Townend on Menlo Park with a score of 38.4 after Friday’s cross country action, which caused few upsets to the leader board. William Fox-Pitt maintains his second place on Shannondale Percy while James Avery is also up there in third place on board Joe Giannamore’s Vitali

The home side has something to celebrate by topping the Land Rover CCI1* with Ireland’s Charlotte Dixon leading after the cross country phase on her dressage score of 36.5, closely followed by Tim Price on Falco on 37.9 while young Alex Power from Clane in Co Kildare still leads the Kubota Under 18 CCIJ1* on his Lakantus after cross country on his dressage score of 41.5
The Irish Eventing team also have the chance of a podium finish, currently in third place overall following the dressage phase of the FEI Nations Cup CICO3*. But it is the on-form French team who hold the lead ahead of Britain in second, with only a handful of points separating the top three heading into Saturday’s show jumping to be followed by cross country on Sunday.
