2024 Scottish Grassroots Championships & BE 90 & 100 classes - XC Videos here
The last ever Scottish Grassroots Champions were crowned at the Defender Blair Castle International on Thursday 23rd August.
The 2024 Inverness Paving British Eventing Scottish Grassroots Championships saw Fife’s Joanna Heaton and Pure Imagination take the Scottish Grassroots BE90 Championship thanks to finishing on their dressage score of 31.5.
Having earned their ticket to the Champs at Hopetoun in early August, Joanna and Pure Imagination had a very good run up to the Championships, finishing inside the top 10 in all their 2024 competitions so far. This might be her first win here, but she is no stranger to the prize-giving at Blair Castle, having taken third place in the SC100 last year on Jamesfield Abercrombie.
Second place went to Pebbles Walker and Tino II (32.1) with third place claimed by Erin Hewitson riding Whaupshill Touche (33.8).
Stirlingshire’s Ben Fairbrother riding Upper Limit won the Scottish Championship BE100 class after taking third place in last year’s BE90 Championships.
It has also been a good season for Ben and the 12-year-old gelding Upper Limit, who came to Blair Castle off the back of three wins, including the regional qualifying final at Hopetoun at the beginning of this month and the BE90 Badminton Grassroots title in May.
They led from start to finish with a dressage score of 26 on Wednesday and, despite one rail down in Thursday’s showjumping, they had enough in the bank to take their spot at the top of the podium on a final score of 30 penalties.
Sharon Christie Thom riding Molton Crown took second place (31.7) with Frankie Cromarty riding Ickle Wickle in third (33.1)
The Scottish Grassroots Championships will be held at the new Scone Palace International Horse Trials from August 2025
