There is going to be plenty to see, do and watch at Osberton International Horse Trials in Nottinghamshire from 28th September – 1st October.

Set against the scenic backdrop of the Osberton Estate, the world’s best eventing riders and the UK’s leading carriage drivers are set to compete in their respective disciplines, creating an unmissable weekend of equestrian sport. Here’s our ‘ones to watch’ this week:

Eventing legends competing in CCI3*-L

British eventing legend Tina Cook may have retired from top level competition, but she will be competing in the CI3*-L at Osberton on board Cymoon FZ and she will be going head to head against her daughter, Isabelle who is also competing in this class with Espoir Landais.

Isabelle has just returned from the FEI European Championships for Juniors at Montelibretti where she added team silver to her individual silver and team gold from the previous year’s Championships at Hartpury.

Another ‘semi-retired’ legend competing in this class is New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson, who will be competing Filipo and Fenizio, a pair of grey geldings bred in Spain by Ramon Beca, who also bred Andrew’s top horses Nereo and Armada, while  the recent European Championship team gold medallist, Kitty King also brings forward a pair of horses.

Kitty’s Ogue Verdi and Cristal Fontaine both have Osberton form, having achieved a top ten finish here previously in the Seven-Year-Old Championship.

Oliver Townend returns to Osberton hot off his third Defender Burghley CCI5* victory and will also be riding a horse with hot Osberton form in last year’s CCI2*L winner, Finley Du Loir, this time contesting the CCI3*-L.

Alongside the CCI3*-L, CCI2*-L, CCI1*, CCI2*Pony, Restricted Novice and Restricted Intermediate eventing classes, Osberton will once host the Bennington Carriages National Carriage Driving event. Leading drivers from across the country will pit their prowess as they drive at speed through winding obstacles and take on the Estate’s new Marathon course.  To experience the thrill of Marathon Driving, ensure to book your Car Pass for Sunday 1st October.

There will also be fairground attractions galore, dogs shows, Shire Horse displays, some gloriously tasty street food and an undercover Kids Zone, supporting the Bluebell Woods Children’s Hospice. To attend the event simply book Car Parking which includes entry to all occupants.  Tickets are available from £15 per car here
