An Eventful Life is filming all riders on cross country at all Tri-Star Eventing competitions in 2018
It appears there weren’t many dramatic moments at the Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials (unless you count the abandonment of the event on Saturday!) However there were couple of ‘eventful’ moments captured on our video cameras that have been brought to our attention
Fence judge Paul Smith spotted the air jacket of Harry Horgan, competing on Frankfort II in the Intermediate Section J, going off as they jumped into the water at Fence 13 (below). Harry seems unperturbed despite what must have been a slightly uncomfortable ride for the rest of the course and they finished in eighth place
There were no 'hand stand starts' such as the Eventful Moment winner at Oasby1 but we did love the ‘running Start’ in the Izzy Taylor video. Izzy is on board Serafina, winner of the Open Intermediate Section M, but it wasn’t Izzy that caught our eye
Watch carefully to the right-hand side of the video near the Starter’s cabin. Is this a new way to keep officials fit? The ‘Can you reach the Starters Cabin and sit down before the rider reaches the first fence’ competition could become a new craze......
And even though Izzy is one of the fastest riders around, in this case the official was the speed demon!
So our prize for the Burnham Market leg of the TriStar Eventing Eventful Moment goes to Fence Judge Paul Smith, partly for reporting the ‘moment’ and partly for standing out there in all sorts of weather during the weekend!
Our next Eventful Moment prize will be awarded at Belton International and we’re looking forward to being notified about some ‘belting good’ Eventful Moments
