Bubby Upton has started her season well with an international win at Belton Horse Trials on Saturday, taking the CIC2* Section I on board her European Junior Championship mount, Eros DHI. The pair beat off some strong competition to finish on their dressage score of 24.9 ahead of another young rider, Lizzie Baugh on Quarryman (28.4), New Zealand’s Tim Price in third on Falco IV and Australia’s Kevin McNab on Willunga in fourth places
On Friday Bubby almost scored another win in the Open Intermediate U21 on board Mexican Wave (see jumping in the video below), finishing second behind Mollie Summerland and Charly Van Ter Heiden.
It is a big weekend for another reason as Bubby contests her first CIC3* on board Fernhill Rock Star. They are currently in seventh place after the dressage (31.40) and Bubby says she will need her ‘brave pants’ on for today’s cross country
