Australia’s Chris Burton is proving a force to be reckoned with at Haras Le Pin in Normandy where he leads both the CICO3* on Quality Purdey and the CCI2* on Limited Edition
Quality Purdey is a new ride for Chris in 2017 and the pair has had one official start together at Eridge where they finished second in the Open Intermediate (watch their cross country ride here). They started by leading the dressage and added nothing to that on cross country to stay in front of French gold medallist Karim Florent Laghoua riding Entebbe De Hus on 40.7 so Chris has a rail up his sleeve for the show jumping today
The eight year old bay gelding Limited Edition also led from the start and stayed on his dressage score of 42 on yesterday’s cross country however Chris has less than a rail today with France’s Philippe Perrin on Taichac De Tremas in second place with a score of 44.5
New Zealand’s Tim Price, soon to be a dad, is currently leading the CCI3* on Ascona M – a win here would be a lovely present for Jonelle!
In the FEI Nations Cup CICO3* competition the French team have a good lead over Britain heading into the show jumping with a score of 127.1 to Britain’s 153.5. Laura Collett and Mr Bass are the best placed of the team in 10th place with Holly Woodhead and Parkfield Quintessential in 14th and Imogen Murray on Ivar Gooden in 17th while Georgie Spence was sadly eliminated on cross country with Wii Limbo
