Lucy Watson and Rafiki Yango have only competed once so far this season due to the bad weather but they made it count at Kelsall Hill where they won the BE100 Section R
The pair started in the lead on a dressage score of 25.8 and added nothing to it to finish ahead of experienced rider Frankie Reid-Warrilow on Dolley Phantom (29.30) and Amelia King on CSF Teddy
The seven year old Rafiki Yango, whose name means My Friend in Swahili, is ‘such a sweet horse’ but Lucy was expecting him to be a bit naughtier at his first event of the season. However he certainly was her friend, pulling out all the stops for her, providing the perfect preparation competition for the Mitsubishi Motors Cup where they head next
“There was no-one who could stop me” says a delighted Lucy who has her week all planned out in the lead up to the big event
