Blyth Tait and his lucky groom

Fiona works her magic as a groom once again

When New Zealand’s eventing legend Blyth Tait won Olympic individual gold at Atlanta and double gold at the World Championships in Rome, his ‘lucky groom’ Fiona Fraser was by his side looking after the wonderful Ready Teddy.

At Puhinui International 3 Day Event, Fiona is once again getting Blyth’s horse ready for him but this time as an owner and friend. Fiona’s mother Julia has bred two top horses competing at the event this weekend; the CCI2* horse Leo Distinction who is being ridden by Blyth and Leo Degas, ridden in the CCI3* by Annabel Wigley. The Leo prefix of the stud comes from Julia’s star sign while both horses are by the New Zealand Hanoverian warmblood Dream Boy.

While Fiona now has a different career in the police force and is here in her capacity as an owner, she still enjoys grooming for Blyth and her turnout talents certainly have not diminished with Leo Distinction looking amazing as he headed out to the first horse inspection
