Who's for the high jump at Albury?

Shane Rose will be back at Albury this year after winning all three international classes in 2014

Over 400 riders will be heading to the 2015 Crowe Horwath Albury Wodonga International Horse Trials being held at the Albury Wodonga Equestrian Centre, NSW from April 3rd to 5th

The event, now in its 18th year, is being used as one of the last selection events for the Oceania Team Championships which will be held in New Zealand in May. The other event that selectors will be keeping an eye on this weekend is being held at the W.A.Y.E.R. CIC 3* Olga Reveler Memorial in Western Australia but the EA Eventing National Performance Director Prue Barrett will be in attendance at Albury

“Both myself and a vet will be there watching, assessing and examining those who have submitted an expression of interest to be considered for the Oceania team,” she said.

As well as those hoping to be chosen for Australian team the event draws the best of the best from not only NSW but also competitors from Queensland such as Olympian Rebel Morrow, Megan Jones and Cooper Oborn from South Australia and top Victorian riders Katja Weimann and Will Enzinger.

Shane Rose and Stuart Tinney are both competing in the CIC3* and no doubt Shane will add to the excitement of the weekend by participating in the renowned Saturday night entertainment – the Bareback High Jump under lights. This year the difficulty has been increased by making it bareback riding and no saddles allowed as in previous years so the $600 cash earned by the top three placegetters will be well deserved! For the eventing competitors there is a total prize pool of $12,000 on offer this year

It all kicks off on Good Friday with the dressage phase for the CIC, EvA105 and EvA95 classes while the EvA80 and 60 classes start on Saturday

We’ll be providing daily coverage for our 4* members from Albury during the event and all riders on cross country will be filmed on Saturday
