Not many horse riders can say they’ve stood, straddled with a foot on the back of two horses galloping side by side, nor can they claim to have swung off their a saddle as their trusty pony thunders across the ground, but Shane Eden can.

Since his days as a trick rider, the Moggill-based horseman has turned his hand to the sport of eventing to have an amazing run of results on both his own and clients' horses. Eden and his 2* horse Edenvale Joshua have placed in the last six competitions they’ve entered.

“He just placed second in his first official international event at Warwick, and prior to that he was undefeated with two wins in the 2*, and three back to back wins in the 1*. My goal for him is definitely 3*, but for now he deserves a little rest,” Eden said.

He’s also had success with a young thoroughbred called Whataway, and the pair will saddle up to compete in the 2* at Fig Tree Pocket Horse Trials in Queensland this weekend.

The competition runs over the course of the weekend, with dressage on the Saturday 28th, and cross country and showjumping on the Sunday 29th. Eden is encouraging spectators to come and enjoy the fun.

“Visually you can’t go past the cross country action, and the showjumping is great fun to watch too.” Eden said. Entry to the Fig Tree Pocket One Day event is free so why not head along if you're in the area and check it out at  717 Fig Tree Pocket Road, Fig Tree Pocket
