We all know and love the multinational animal health and food company Alltech as the major sponsor of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesTM 2014 but now in Australia there is another reason to like the company which provides lots of the nutritional goodies that fuel our eventing horses. It’s called the Alltech Equine Advantage Eventing Series.

What is it?

The Alltech Equine Advantage (AEA) Eventing Series starts at Tonimbuk Horse Trials (March 9th & 10th), the first of five events in 2013 where Alltech will match the prize money offered in each 1* class for riders entered in the Series. So, taking Tonimbuk as an example, if the winner of the CIC 1* is registered for the Series, they will win $1,000 normal prize money plus $1,000 bonus from Alltech and so on down the placings.

The five events of the 2013 AEA Eventing Series are;

In addition to the individual event cash bonus, points will be allocated to AEA participating riders at each event and the top 25 riders invited to the Series Final at the 2014 Sydney International Horse Trials. The Final will be run at 2*level and the winner will receive a trip for two people to attend the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy, France, as Alltech’s guests. The prize includes accommodation, airfares and tickets (and if you’re going as guests of the main sponsor there is bound to be some sort of VIP treatment in store!) valued at $10,000

How do I get involved?

You need to register at Nominate and there is an AEA registration fee of $200 for the Series before Friday 8th March (this has been extended from 28th February). You can still enter the Series after this date but there will be an additional late fee. Before your first event you will be supplied with an AEA kit including a saddle cloth, long sleeve cross country shirt, polo shirt and cap. Full details and Terms & Conditions are available HERE

We caught up with Emma Browne of Alltech Australia to find out a bit more

“We really want to involve ourselves at a local level in equestrian sport in Australia as well as the top level internationally” said Emma “Obviously, as title sponsors of the 2014 World Equestrian Games, we’re really looking forward to seeing the AEA Series winner and their guest enjoy a great time in Normandy but we know that it’s also important to try and increase prize money in Australian eventing so that more riders can benefit than just the overall Series winner.

We’ve chosen to focus on the 1* level as it hopefully will involve amateur riders and younger riders as well as the professionals on their up and coming horses. This is our first year of running the Series and we hope that the eventing community will get on board and embrace it so that we can continue to enhance and grow the programme in future years”

Olympic silver medallist and President of one of the events, Equestriad at Camden, Shane Rose has entered the Series and is very keen to win! “I think the Alltech Equine Advantage Eventing Series is an exciting new concept, rarely do 1* level horses and riders have the opportunity to compete for such fantastic prize money and prizes” he says

Victorian rider Samantha Cesnik thinks the Series is a great opportunity to win a trip to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games “I was planning on running in the 1* class at 4 or 5 qualifying events as part of my normal season plan so I thought it would be a good idea to enter. It’s great to have a sponsor running a Series like this and prizes of this magnitude are not often offered in Australia”

With five great events involved and a major multinational company looking to get behind eventing in Australia there definitely seems to be an advantage in this Series. Have you signed up?

All events will be covered in full by An Eventful Life. The Alltech Equine Advantage Series updates and leaderboard will be featured HERE after the first event
