What a few weeks with Wallaby Hill followed by Sydney International Three Day Event for Stuart and Wallaby Hill, Syd3DE and Equestriad for Gemma!
Apologies for doubling up April and May news, but things have been a bit hectic here at Tinney Eventing. We’re not sure we have come back from 'COVID time out' ready for back-to-back events! We started enjoying the less stressful and easier weeks, so it hit us a bit hard! But surprisingly, the horses took it all in their stride
It was a super run at Wallaby Hill for Stuart on Elisabeth Brinton's Celebration, winning the CCI4*-S and Leporis finishing in seventh place. It was a good run for both horses, pulling up well and then giving it their all at the Sydney International Three Day Event a few weeks later.
A well-deserved ear rub for Leporis at Syd3DE after dressage (above) and Celebration jumps clear to win (below)
We would like to thank Stephen Mowbray for his amazing photos of us all at the Syd3DE
Again, Celebration won from start to finish in the CCN4*-S (Olympic format) class and Leo took third place. We are so blessed to have such special horses and we are super hopeful they will make it into quarantine for Tokyo starting the second week of July. Fingers and toes crossed :)
The ‘nomination date’ for the Olympic team will be 23rd June at the latest, depending on if there are more selection trials, here and in Europe. Only three horses will be selected for the team, plus a travelling reserve. The reserve cannot be a rider’s second horse, so only one horse per rider will travel to Tokyo.
Gemma and Diabolo at Syd3DE
Sadly, Gemma’s rides started well at Wallaby Hill but unluckily did not finish as well!! Such is the territory of Eventing.
Syd3DE was better with a second place on Tim Game's handsome Diabolo in the Bates CCN4*-S as well as fourth place on Dalenna Daydream
Gemma and Diabolo at Equestriad
Gemma backed up SYD3DE with Equestriad, riding Diabolo to place third in the CCN4*-S. We were hoping to travel to Melbourne International but, due to the ongoing COVID lock down, sadly Melbourne 3DE has just been cancelled
A quick shout out to our sponsors: Bates Saddles, CopRice, Ceva Equine and Horseland, Thank you always.
