Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) held their mid week eventing competition on the 23rd and 24th February. In the CNC** Stuart came fourth on Orchard Hill and twelfth with Kinnordy Genuine. He was also riding Murrabong Kinganui and came second in the CNC* for Nidhi Dev while she is recovering from a shoulder operation, after being knocked over on the road by a bike while visiting her family in India!! So Nidhi is still in India and we wish her a speedy recovery! Ferragamo, also owned by Nidhi came third in the Preliminary class. Double Dare owned by Clare McKinnon had his first ever appearance at a competition in the Introductory section and put in a fantastic dressage and jumping round. Unfortunately he thought he was too fat to get over a skinny fence on the cross-country course and ended up walking home!
Recently we welcomed Tara Rogers to our team and Tara took the ride on Koyuna Will. This was Will’s first competition to place tenth in the Introductory. Well done Tara!
A quick turn around and back to SIEC for the weekend competition on the 26th and 27th February. Kinnordy Rubino did a fantastic job, winning the CNC** class from the start. Koyuna Levi came fourth in the Pre Novice B and Ferragamo won the Pre Novice A. Clare’s Double Dare returned to the Introductory class and overcame his fear of skinny cross country jumps to finish in twelfth place this time! Koyuna Will was in the Introductory class again with Tara and finished just outside the top ten. Daughter Jaymee was riding Tundra in the Pre Novice A and finished in tenth place. A good weekend and a big thank you to the sponsor Winning Appliances - we finally won the fridge!! A quick note here that Nidhi is selling Ferragamo. You can find full information about him at www.tinneyeventing.com as well as some of our other horses for sale.
Stuart headed to Brookleigh Equestrian Centre in Western Australia for a clinic from 4th -8th March plus a day at Elizabeth Moore’s property – she certainly has some very nice horses! The clinic was very popular so don’t miss out on a chance to participate in the next one if you’re in that neck of the woods. Karen will also be available at the home clinics at Maraylya in NSW; full details are available on our web site clinic page or e-mail us to be put on the mailing list [email protected]. The clinics at our home are supported by our wonderful sponsors and a BBQ lunch (Stuart’s cooking!) should certainly entice some of you!
The Interschool Championships was on at the same time that Stuart was in Western Australia so it was up to Karen to help the younger members of the Tinney team, daughters Jaymee and Gemma, to compete in the Eventing on Thursday and show jumping on Sunday. Not only did she do this, she also coached six other children from a Sydney school on all four days. She now knows the ins and outs of all disciplines and also how to deal with politics and lines for the show jumping warm ups!
On another high note, Stuart has been selected for the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) scholarship list. He is very honored to accept a Gold Scholarship and looks forward to attending the NSWIS Squad schools throughout the coming year. Stuart will also be doing some coaching at the very popular NSWIS Squad Schools. This is a ‘user pay’ system so if you are interested, let us know and we will put you in contact with Niki Rose who organises these clinics.
Thanks again to all our sponsors and owners for their continued support!
Regards from all at Tinney Eventing
