Gold Olympic medallist Stuart Tinney will campaign the 4 star eventing horse Pluto Mio in the lead up to London 2012. Pluto Mio (Daley K/Call on the Wind), owned by Jane and John Pittard was previously ridden by Victorian rider Katja Weimann.
Pluto Mio has had a quick rise to the top of the eventing field, having been only seriously competed from the age of nine. Bred by Jane and educated in his early days by a friend of the family, Ebony Tucker, this athletic grey gelding has been in light work during the past few months while on the market due to changes in the Pittards’ personal circumstances. John and Jane, although separated, are together intent on seeing the horse fulfil his potential.
“We considered sending him overseas for sale” said John “But we really enjoy watching him compete and we’re very fond of the horse. We spoke to Stuart and have decided this is the best way for us to continue our interest in the sport and see what he can achieve here in the lead up to London” John is no stranger to success with horses as he is also the owner of the highly successful racing filly Yosei. The pint-sized Yosei had a fantastic year in 2010, including winning the Group One Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick and is currently being prepared for the 2011 Melbourne Spring Carnival.
Stuart Tinney is looking forward to the addition of yet another talented big grey horse to his stable. He will initially focus on getting the horse back to competition fitness level and will campaign him towards the Australian International Three Day Event in Adelaide in November. This event has recently been awarded global pro-tour status by the international sporting body, The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and will host the second leg of the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012 season. Stuart will also be aiming to take his other CCI**** horses - Vettori, Panamera and Watermark Grayson - to Adelaide. At the Melbourne International Three Day Event in June Stuart will compete Orchard Hill in the CCI*** and Olivia Bunn’s GV Anzac in the CCI**.
