Rain, rain and good results for the Tinney family

February it just rained and rained and working horses has been most frustrating. We have certainly given our Equine treadmill a huge hammering! So with virtually no training grounds to train we went to the first event, the Sydney mid week, a little under prepared. However the results were good and the horses ran well. Pre-Novice Gosh came 3rd ‘and Gymeon 7th. In the CNC** Orchard Hill was 6th and Hannah Walls our student/rider finished 7th.

Some very exciting news is Jaymee’s selection on the National Elite Youth Squad for eventing, alongside seven other well respected young riders from around Australia. We are quietly proud to have two Tinney’s on Elite squads and thanks to the EA for their selection. This means Jaymee can attend squad training (however she has HSC this year so not sure how that will work?) and she also earns a NSWIS scholarship, which will induct her and give her the benefits alongside their program. Thank you NSWIS.

More exciting news is of a new arrival to our yard in the shape of John and Jane Pittard’s Annapurna. Anna is a young horse bred by Jane out of the same mare as Pluto and is gorgeous! She has been started by Ebony Tucker and we are very pleased to have her. Stuart took her along Sydney in the dressage and jumping.

What a jump Anna!

Stuart away was coaching in WA during the weekend of the Sydney event so it was only Jaymee, Gemma and Hannah competing. Jaymee went well after her summer break with a 4th in the open CNC* (first junior) Gemma in her first preliminary 11th. Hannah completed the CNC**.

We backed up Sydney Eventing with the CopRice Interschool’s one day event. Jaymee won the CNC** by a mile! (She was the only 2 star rider!!) and Gemma another 11th in the preliminary class, just outside the ribbons.

Then it was a scheduled weekend off (very rare!) where we were due to head off to Olivia Bunn’s wedding, that was until we were put on flood alert the Friday before. Alas we ended up spending a wet boring weekend at home watching the water take over 10 of our 30 acres! I suppose we could have taken a boat out! Thankfully the horses are all fine and now we just have to wait for everything to dry out.

That’s all for this month from Tinney Eventing
