A roller coaster month
Reflecting on the past few weeks (actually months), our sport of 'eventing' has been seriously pounded. We had only just started to recover from the tragedy of losing Olivia for another fatality at Sydney 3DE to occur and another beautiful young girl, Caitlyn Fischer, was lost. It just couldn’t be believed that these could happen so close to each other, or indeed ever - both were terrible accidents.
Here at Tinney Eventing we send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Caitlyn.
Events
Equestriad 16th & 17th April
What a bumper of an event with 700 competitors. The Organising Committee (OC) are amazing and stay happy which in itself is very creditable. With Pluto Mio winning the CT 4* and Carl 2nd in the CIC3* it was a good event for these ponies and a great lead up for Sydney International 3DE while War Hawk (below) had a quiet run round the 2 Star.
The first of our two selection events was at Sydney 3DE on the weekend of the 31st April. This was the event that was cancelled on cross country day after the tragic fall of Caitlyn. We took Pluto, Carl, War Hawk and Q. and all actually did fabulous tests, not knowing that this would be a dress rehearsal for the following weekend when the OC thankfully ran the event again. It did mean however we would have to do the whole event again.

Sydney International 3DE runs again 6-8th May
Sydney 3DE ran again for the 2 and 3 star riders who did not complete the event the previous weekend so for the second time we prepared the horses for the event. It was a long stressful week for many, however the actual event ran very smoothly.
The volunteers, judges, officials and event organizers all came back and put the event on for the riders; we can’t thank them enough for this, including all the staff of SIEC. The relief after the event closed was just seen on everyone's faces and a minute’s silence in memory of Caitlyn at the prize giving was very moving and terribly sad.
It was a good result for us with all three horses placing in the top (4th/4th and 5th) and, as this event was one of two selections for Rio 2016, these results are favourable for us. We now will go to Melbourne International 3DE from 10-13th June with Pluto, War Hawk and Carl and are hoping for some more good results.

We would like to thank both Robyn and Katelyn for doing such a great job over the 2 events. Both were only short term grooms but they just stepped into TE and made light work of the events. Sadly (for us) both grooms are now on their travels around Australia.
We were all so happy the event went off without a hitch! Only the one photo bomb!!

TE welcomes 'Wanda' a NZ bred mare to the team
We are very excited about our new edition to the Tinney Eventing Team. 'Wanda' (above) is a NZ bred mare bought a few months back when Karen took a trip to Rangeview farm. After a few months of flat work she took her first outing with Stuart at the weekend to run 3rd in the 1.10m. She was clear in the 1.20m but Stuart angled the last fence a little too sharp, resulting in a glance off.
She is a lovely mare and we hope to start her eventing career soon. Gemma also rode a young TB 'NEF' around the 85cm for a 3rd place. With over 100 in every class we were very pleased with our Rangeview horses
Medusa has been off trying to have babies, unfortunately she did not manage to fall pregnant with the view of putting her embryo in a surrogate. We are very happy to have her back in work and she was out in force doing the 1.10 and 1.20m with Gemma (below)
