A bumper April blog

Gemma and Diabolo at Sydney with sponsor Coprice

The past weeks have gone so quickly with Stuart heading overseas in his new position as Chef for WEG (confirming not the cooking type!). We’ve also had a few rider injuries here so we have had to pull together to get all the horses prepped and ready for the runs at Equestriad and Sydney International.

Firstly, we can’t complain that, even with Gemma and myself on the backfoot, the horses did not perform well in the past few events. Gemma is now almost sound after rupturing ligaments off her ankle (she was simply packing the float after competing at Wallaby Hill Extravaganza and fell from the tack box of the float!) and I have been nursing a bulged disc after a bought of gardening! HOWEVER, thanks to STEVE at Beecroft Physio he and his team got us back to riding sooner than anticipated.  Also thank you to our rider Tara Rogers for all the help riding and fitness work - thanks too to Tahlia Hurley, we have a good team

The Rider and Owner Tent is back!

Sydney International 3DE certainly deserves  to be front page new with Tinney Eventing supporting the event, not only with seven horses over the three days but we also hosted The Rider and Owners tent sponsored by TE, Tarraleah Park and Findlay Equestrian. It was a great hub to bring riders, owners and grooms together in a like-minded, friendly environment.

This tent was the first rider/owner tent since the Club Equus days (some may remember those !!) Hopefully we can build on this tent at SIHT - just a quick thank you also to Proteq Equine bedding - how nice to come to the event and the stables are ready and prepared for you by your sponsors!!

WASABI (Sushi stable name) was bought from South Germany last year as a 4YO. Thinking she may be a little young for us she has proven to be right up there with the others we imported as a seriously surprise package. A German sport horse by Decurio out of a Wanderfurst mare, she was ridden in the 5YO class by Tara Rogers (below)

DAYLENNA DAYDREAM Winner with a record score of 100! 6YO YHC

This amazing unassuming German Sport horse by Daydream out of a Saint Cloud mare is very special. Light, athletic with a great attitude to her work. Personally, this mare gets a BIG LIKE!

Running alongside the 3DE International classes were the CNC2 and 3 stars. This gave us an opportunity to run both Elisabeth Brinton’s 'Celebration' and our own 'Leporis' in the CNC**. Super happy (again) with Celebration finishing 3rd and Leo stepping up into the grade with his 8th placing. We must also mention that Gemma rode Anna to lead the dressage and cross country only to have 2 rails sad to end up 4th. John and Jane Pittard are the very proud owners of Anna.

      Celebration show jumping at Sydney

Corinna and Darren Huskinson's 'War Hawk' did a good test for a 31.7 putting him in 5th but an unfortunate flag at 6B left him with 50 penalties. He is such a trooper, so sound, flew through the trot up and show jumped superbly.

Berrima CIC*** was slotted in just before Stuart headed off and he was very pleased with War Hawk placing 2nd finishing on 35.6 and Gemma 6th.

While Stuart was overseas at the WEG Test Event plus a brief trip to the UK to meet with the Elite riders - we girls took ourselves off to Equestriad

Gemma and Annapurnaran third in the CIC** ran 3rd and Diabolo ran 5th in the CIC*. 'DD' and 'Daisy' both did their first event in Australia (and ever!) with Tara and were both exceptional in the EvA105.

We are all very excited that firstly Gemma was nominated for National Young Athlete of the year and secondly, that she was voted by members of Equestrian AUS to be the winner. Gemma makes us proud daily and we are grateful to all who voted for her. Also, congratulations to all that were nominated. For more info go to www.equestrian.org.au

Gemma has come a long way in 14 years!

WAR HAWK  is FOR SALE

We have had the privilege of being part owners with Corinna and Darren Huskinson in War Hawk - ''Raffles'' as he is more commonly known is ready for his new home. An amazing event horse that will take a rider to the top level of Eventing 4 star. He is solid and very sound. An International horse that has competed continuously throughout his career. CLINICS at Wallaby Hill

Recently Stuart, Karen and Gemma (all levels of NCAS) went to Wallaby Hill (twice as the Cross Country was rained out) and taught a lovely group of enthusiastic riders, with how jump sessions taking place in the morning and cross country in the afternoon. We feel it was a great success - despite the inclement weather! We are keen to go back for another day so anyone interested please contact us.
