Stuart with some eager young students at the Silver Hills clinic
Back to work here at Tinney Eventing. We did not issue a January news as we took time out with the family to recharge our batteries!! It is with great gratitude that we have Amy back taking care of TE, this allowed us to leave and have a great break without a worry.
February certainly fired up early with a Silver Hills clinic and it’s nice to get some training in the week before Wallaby Hill.
The following day the truck was fully loaded with six horses for Jump Club training day. It was a big day, taking all three German horses out- Q (Queen Mary) owned by Pete O' Connell and Kathy Ward , Sina ( Lansina) and Carl (Carlchen), Karen's new purchase.

They all jumped great and were well behaved for their first outing of 2014. The Huskinson family's Raffles (War Hawk) was great and has come back in, all set for a big year of eventing. The Pittard's Annapurna, who recently got herself a slot on the EA Rio Olympic Squad, was fresh and jumped very well.
Set for a busy season with a bunch of new horses, the future hopefully will look bright for us during 2014. The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games this year is being held in Normandy France. At this stage there are only three horses (two riders) that the selectors have put forward for the team of four plus a reserve.
This is different to being qualified- which many top horse rider combinations already have. The selection criteria is that you must finish on a sub 48 penalties in CCI*** and a sub 50 in CCI****. Tough you may think but we understand the selectors are trying to match the world stage with selections.
None of the horses in the top five at Adelaide CCI**** fulfilled this criteria except Chris Burton on his catch ride TS Jamaimo who came in on 49.70! Rumour has it that Jamaimo may be being bought by a syndicate for Chris and, if so, it is a fair guess that he will be added to the WEG selected combinations.
The next four combinations came in under 55 penalties. With all this in mind we will see a race to get the scores for selection here and overseas. We will be in that race with Pluto Mio and Annapurna.
Pluto will be campaigned for Sydney CCI*** while Anna will be campaigned for Melbourne CCI***. We are certainly going to try to get a selection score and we will do everything possible to achieve this for our berth on the WEG team. At this stage we will stay in Australia but anything can happen in the next six months.

As well as Pluto and Anna, we will start eventing our three German horses and War Hawk will step into 2 Star, with a plan of a 3 Star later in the year. We also have Susie Clapton's Wyandah Rolly who is a super young horse to play with this year. Then there are the girls, Jaymee and Gemma. Jaymee has taken the ride on Sydney and will start him at Wallaby Hill while Gemma wants to do some show jumping and eventing on King. We also have Gossip Girl who will event and show jump with both girls.
We would also like to welcome Jacqueline Basquil and her horse 'Danny' who will train with us during 2014 on her gap year
We have retired Tim Game’s Panamera and she is now in foal to Rod and Cathy Brown’s 'Higgins' - she is a beautiful mare and we hope that she will produce champions as good as she was.
