New SIE Patron

SIE is thrilled to announce Wayne Roycroft has accepted the invitation to become the Patron of Sydney International Eventing. With over 40 years contributing to Australian Eventing  Wayne needs no introduction. The Australian Eventing Team has achieved 11 Olympic

medals in total and Wayne has been directly involved with 8 of them. Hehas proved to be one of Australia’s most successful Olympic coaches with three successive Olympic team gold medals; Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000.

Before coaching Wayne was a 3 timeOlympian and won 2 bronze medals. Wayne will judge the Telstra Australian Young Event Horse Championships on Friday and host the cross country course walk on Saturday at 10am.

A Word from 2010 Winner

You are not going to believe this but I am not going to be at the Sydney 3DE. The Sydney 3DE actually clashes with the State Dressage Titles at Tamworth and I am chasing an MES qualifying score for the Olympics in the dressage discipline. So consequently Mystery Whisper will be competing in the Prix St George and Inter I classes at Tamworth on

the Sydney weekend. I am mortified. Anyway such is life and Mystery Whisper is on a program to reappear at the Adelaide International 3DE and hopefully improve on his 4th place performance last year. Very sad not to be at Sydney.

Cheers,

Heath Ryan

Cross Country Update

International Course designer Ewan Kellett and Brett Ryan are busily preparing the course at SIEC, with the support of the SIEC ground crew. There will be some exciting changes including a complete revamp of the water jump and a number of new portables at each

level. These upgrades are the first steps of a bigger program being developed jointly by Sydney International Eventing and Sydney (@SIEC) Eventing to revitalise the course at all levels. Rather than travel to the second water, the 2* and 3* horses will negotiate the main water jump twice making it an excellent spectator point.
